Chronology of cameras Canon
Starting from the late 1950s, Canon expanded its range of rangefinder cameras by manufacturing a new type of camera, the single-lens reflex (SLR), which had previously been overlooked by the brand. Demand grew worldwide, whether from professionals or amateurs. However, Canon had to produce multiple models before offering one that could compete with the leading professional market model, the Nikon F.

__________It's challenging for a manufacturer to name a third generation when the second is already labeled "new." Nevertheless, Canon named this one "New" (which is fundamentally different from "n" for new) to ensure continuity in users' minds. The New F-1 is a completely revised F-1, integrating all the technological advancements that have emerged since the release of the initial model, 10 years prior.
Thus, the shutter is new. It offers speeds of B, 8, 4, 2, 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, 1/2000 seconds, but the slow speeds (below 1/125) are now electronically controlled, using the bulb setting. This allows for easier access to very slow speeds (up to 8 seconds).
The prism and the viewfinder glass are interchangeable.
